The 5th NEXT Summit (Singapore 2021): E-commerce Upgrading and Supply Chain Finance Sub-Forum Successfully Held, along with the Cross-border E-commerce Promotion Event of Nanshan District, Shenzhen

On September 29th, the “Converging Ecological Resources, Co-creating Cross-border Intelligent Transformation” 5th NEXT Summit (Singapore 2021): E-commerce Upgrading and Supply Chain Finance Sub-Forum, jointly organized by the Investment Promotion Center of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, the Cross-border E-commerce Association of Shenzhen, and the Supply Chain and Logistics Professional Committee of China Electronic Commerce Chamber, under the guidance of Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, was successfully held.

Based on the “Belt and Road” Initiative and showcasing the forefront trends of intelligent, smart, and innovative development through new industries, formats, models, and driving forces, the event actively explored new models of interconnection and mutually beneficial development between Shenzhen, Nanshan, and Singapore. Leveraging the platform of the international NEXT Summit, the event aimed to assist enterprises in exploring future business needs and cooperation opportunities. This special event, the Cross-border E-commerce Promotion Event of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, was held.

An international grand event for the cross-border e-commerce industry

Distinguished guests including former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jenny Shipley; Vice Chairman of the Council of NEXT Federation, Special Government Allowance Expert of the State Council, Yuan Guobao; Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Center of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, Xu Yuan; Representative of the E-commerce Department of Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Feng Guohong; Representative of Shenzhen Municipal Taxation Bureau, Li Changnian; Representative of Shenzhen E-commerce Service Center, Hong Peilin; Executive Chairman of the Cross-border E-commerce Association of Shenzhen, Wang Xin; Secretary General of the Supply Chain and Logistics Committee of the Cross-border E-commerce Association of Shenzhen, Xie Zhuoheng, as well as many other political and business leaders, participated in the event. Furthermore, senior officials from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Senior Payment Controls Officer Hyeamee Kim from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Senior Vice President of Hangzhou Peking University Investment Group, Zhang Yu Alex, Senior Director of SF International, Wei Wanli Wish, and Senior Product Manager of Newegg China, Huang Jing, attended the event.

It is understood that the event, themed “Converging Ecological Resources, Co-creating Cross-border Intelligent Transformation,” covered various topics, including the development trends of e-commerce upgrading and supply chain finance, cross-border cultural empowerment for brand globalization, trends and opportunities for the development of cross-border e-commerce industry finance after the pandemic, and the opportunities and challenges of cross-border logistics under the new development pattern. It comprehensively showcased the vibrant development status and opportunities of the cross-border e-commerce ecosystem in Nanshan District under its favorable business environment.

Yuan Guobao, Vice Chairman of the Council of NEXT Federation and Special Government Allowance Expert of the State Council, delivered a speech sharing insights on the hot topics, cutting-edge technologies, and advanced theories of the global e-commerce and supply chain finance industries.

Xu Yuan, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Center of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, gave a presentation on the comprehensive business environment of Nanshan District. He emphasized the first-class business environment of Nanshan District from four aspects: economic development, technological innovation, internationalization, and rule of law governance. He sincerely invited people from all walks of life and global friends to share business opportunities and seek common development with Nanshan District.

Xu Yuan stated that after more than 40 years of reform and opening up and over 30 years of district development, Nanshan District has become an important window for the world to see China and for China to see Shenzhen. In 2020, the local GDP reached 650.2 billion yuan (approximately 100 billion US dollars), ranking first in Guangdong Province for eight consecutive years and ranking first among the top 100 districts in China in terms of comprehensive strength for four consecutive years. In the first half of this year, Nanshan District achieved a year-on-year GDP growth of 11.1%, reaching 365 billion yuan.

As one of the districts representing China’s high-quality economic development, gathering top-notch enterprises, concentrating China’s technological innovation elements, and demonstrating a high degree of internationalization, Nanshan is recognized as a district with first-class comprehensive business environment. Currently, Nanshan is seizing major strategic opportunities in history, leading the emerging industries, and proactively developing integrated circuits, 5G, artificial intelligence, marine economy, and cross-border e-commerce. It aims to become a world-class innovative coastal central district and a benchmark for building the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone for Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.

Panel discussions were fruitful

During the panel discussion session, moderated by Xie Zhuoheng, Secretary General of the Supply Chain and Logistics Committee of the Cross-border E-commerce Association of Shenzhen, government and corporate representatives, including Feng Guohong, Senior Staff Officer of the E-commerce Department of Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce; Li Changnian, Senior Staff Officer of the Corporate Income Tax Department of Shenzhen Municipal Taxation Bureau; Hong Peilin, Deputy Director and Assistant Minister of Shenzhen E-commerce Service Center; Wei Wanli Wish, Senior Director of SF International Division; and Huang Jing, Senior Product Manager of Newegg China, engaged in exchanges on the topic of “Thriving in Nanshan, the Land of Cross-border E-commerce.” They discussed the opportunities for cross-border import and export, the outlook for the development of cross-border e-commerce in Shenzhen, and the comprehensive development level of cross-border e-commerce in Nanshan, showcasing the trends in the industry.

The successful organization of this promotion event has established cooperative channels for the cross-border e-commerce ecosystem and provided new solutions for the common development of various industries. Leveraging the platform of the 5th NEXT Summit (Singapore 2021), it highlighted Shenzhen’s favorable business environment and the comprehensive development level of cross-border e-commerce to the world. This event played a positive role in exploring the Chinese and Singaporean cross-border e-commerce markets, actively participating in the development of cross-border e-commerce markets in countries along the “Belt and Road” and other regions, and opening up new channels for foreign trade development, paving the way for high-quality development of cross-border e-commerce that suits the characteristics of Nanshan District.

NEXT Summit (Singapore 2021) has the theme “Promoting Total-Factor Cooperation” and invited more than 70 international political figures, renowned scholars, business leaders, and entrepreneurial pioneers from over 10 countries, including New Zealand, China, Indonesia, South Korea, Egypt, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, the United States, Germany, and Russia. The summit featured important events such as the opening ceremony, keynote speeches, global roadshows for international projects, the Hurricane Lamp Award ceremony, and seven thematic sub-forums, allowing for cutting-edge speeches and case sharing in various industrial fields.
